Joran Van Der Sloot’s Insincere Body Language During Courtoom Confession Lands His 28 Years In Prison

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

We see a very different looking Joran Van der slot when he was first  arrested and frightened after being arrested for killing Stephanie Flores in Peru and paraded around.  Then we saw a wide eyed frightened Joran. Today we see a heavier and more cocky Joran. The cocked head to the side and the tight lipped appearance indicate his insincerity.

His shoulder shrugs as you can see int his photo when he spoke the words  Yes I want to plead guilty. I wanted  from the first moment to confess sincerely. As he states these words you can see many signals of deception. The statement analysis indicates deception as well based on the words he chose. It is not true that Joran wanted to plead guilty from the first moment to confess. He was adamant from the beginning that he was innocent and then claimed he was coerced into a confession by the Peruvian authorities. Also the word sincerely is also significant as there eis nothing sincere about his confession.

Also the repetition of  the  word  ”wanted” speaks to yet another issue- his seeing himself as a victim in all of this. In essence he says that he wanted to do so at the beginning but no one would let him. We clearly know that this is not so based on reports of his actions early on during his arrest and subsequent incarceration.

His monotone voice along with his cocked head belie his words as he continues to say  I am truly sorry for this bad act. He shrugs his shoulders looks up,  away from the three judges  as he cocks his head. Not only does he shrug his shoulder, he keeps it in the same raised position which indicates that he is literally giving the “cold shoulder” to match his cold monotoned voice pattern.

His words indicate the opposite based on his body language behaviors. He is not sorry at all and does not consider this a bad act. he has no feeling and no remorse  whatsoever and it shows.

Then he immediately switches up the words and says  I am truly sorry for this act. I feel bad. The fact that he repeats his apology as he alters the word order confirms that he is lying about feeling sorry for his “bad act”.

But now he is actually showing signals of honesty when he makes this latest statement. He now focuses his eyes back on the judges as he l looks directly at them as he now bows his head in sorrow. Yes he is sorry, but NOT for killing Stephanie Flores. He is sorry for getting caught . In fact he is truly sorry he got caught. Now he does not call it a bad act as he did initially. Now he simply calls it an act .In essence he is saying that he is sorry he was caught for his act of killing Stephanie Flores which he does not consider  bad , but merely an act.

Then he says I feel very bad. This is true based on his body language. He feels very bad because he was caught doing this act that he did not consider bad. Note how the  position of the words  bad and act have changed in his statement. It is not longer a bad act. Now he feels bad he was caught in the act.

He is still nervous and anxious as she shows signs of this rocking back and forth freighting movements which his legs constantly moving as he sat and waited to speak,  through his profuse sweating  and itching as you can see int he photo above.

However he cannot help but leak out his arrogance and self righteousness through his erect posture and raised shoulder literally giving the judges a cold shoulder via his insincere confession . He does however feel vulnerable as you can see  by his hands clasped over his private area. While he believe he was justified in what he did to Stephanie and feels forced to confess for the reward to a lighter sentence, he is still nervous and frightened by what the sentence will be. Also if you look at the muscle tension of his hands as he clasps them over his groin area you can see that he is indeed exhibiting a lot of nervousness and tension as he is holding on to himself for dear life.

Another change in Joran is that there is a lot of puffiness under his eyes which may indicate he is not getting a lot of sleep in prison and/ or possibly doing drugs. It has been said that for the right amount of money one can get just about  anything in this prison.

Joran’s legal defense was that he had Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome from the Natalie Holloway incident because  he was hounded by the press for her alleged killing. Perhaps this was the best defense that his attorney could come up with because there was certainly no other defense as to why Joran would kill a lovely Peruvian girl with a bright future ahead of her.  This lame defense got him two years less than the maximum 30 years he would have received had he not confessed.

As we see from Joran’s photos, prison life has not been good to him. He looks bad and as he lingers in prison for the next  close to three decades, he will look even worse and prison life will be worse to him. Based on his actions during  his court proceedings he knows this as well.

His slovenly appearance shows that he did not care how he looked or came across. He may have been told by his attorney that his confession would result in less prison time. because of his arrogance he may have interpreted this less prison time to be  only a a few years. That would explain why he was visibly angry when the judge ordered him to 28 years in prison. He was reported to have  cursed  out loud as she was also ordered to  pay $75,000 in reparations.

But Under Peru’s laws, however, van der Sloot could get out after serving half of his sentence. This means the 24 year old  could be out when he is 38. That means he would have a long life ahead of him to live freely. With book, film and TV interviews he could be a very wealthy man, continue his gambling lifestyle and life like nothing ever happened.

But that will not be the case if the US has anything to do about it. He may be extradited to the US for extortion in the Natalie Holloway case.  If found guilty, he would be put away for more time and serve it in the US.

It is unclear  to date whether Joran will stay at Castro Castro prison where he has been isolated from the other prisoners or whether now that he has been sentenced, he  will be among the general population there. it is unclear as to whether he will be transferred to a more harsher prison in Peru and placed int he general population.

If placed the general population Joran will be a walking dead man as there is fierce loyalty even among prisoners when it comes to a national hero- Stephanie Flores’ father. If another prisoner does not kill him, disease such as TB and AIDS may do it, thus making it doubtful that we will see Joran on the streets of Aruba, the Netherlands or any other place int he world.

If by some fluke of nature he does come out of prison alive at age 38, he will no doubt suffer the same fate as OJ and so many others where they commit  another bad act to land themselves in prison for life.

While nothing can bring back Stephanie Flores, justice was  finally served as she can now rest in peace. Let’s hope the same justice can be served for Natalie Holloway so she too can rest in peace and so her loving mother Beth can also have some peace.

Joran Van Der Sloot Treated Well In Castro Castro Prison With A Pats On The Back and Walking Freely Behind Guards

JORAN GIVING INTERVIEWS FOR MONEY FOR JAILHOUSE PROTECTION?

Journalist John van den Heuvel  of De Telegraaf, the Dutch newspaper came into Casto Castro Prison in  Peru  to videotape  Joran van der Sloot for an interview.   I have no doubt that the newspaper paid him to do the interview.

The reason I say this is because greedy Joran has made it clear that he will not speak to reporters unless there is money on the table.
Joran definitely  needs money to keep him alive in Castro Castro. He needs money to buy food from the outside.

In looking at the above  photo of Joran he looks very well fed. He looks well kept with his manicured beard.

The money also allows him to buy anything else  he wants, including the protection of the guards. Maybe that is why they allow him to do any interviews and roam around freely  without any  restraints.

THE REAL NEWS AS IT PERTAINS TO JORAN

While the de Telegraaf story tells of  Joran’s confessing  that he extorted money from Natalie Holloway’s family, that is old news. The FBI knew about it and we knew about it. But what IS  new news and what is the  REAL  story of the day  is what is going on in Castro Castro in relation to Joran.

It seems that Joran has worked  both his charm as a sociopath  and his money  to receive the goodwill of the guards.  You will see how well the guards are treating him in  these screen shots taken from a video clip from the  deTelegaaf   interview taken   before he entered the room to speak to the  Dutch reporter.

When we first see the videoclip of Joran he is affectionately patted on the back by the guard as he arrives in the little courtyard on his way to the interview room.

Joran looks over  at the back patting guard and gives him a little ” hello glad to see you “  grin.Joran bows his head down in order to maintain eye contact with the shorter guard.

We see a genuine and brighter and acknowledging  smile  as the guard removes his back patting hand from Joran.

Next we see one of the other guards showing Joran a piece of  paper . Joran looks at it but is busy scratching his ear or the side of his head.  Maybe he has ear mites or head lice. You see him reaching out to grab the paper.

Joran raises his eyebrows and insists that he needs that paper and  abruptly  grabs  it out of the guards possession . The guard relents and the other guards who are essentially onlookers do nothing, even though they remain close by.

Joran even grabs the  paper the guard is holding  out of the guards hand. He looks cocky and entitled as he does this. The guards relent and don’t do a thing. They let him have the paper.

We then see Joran with the paper and he is walking in BACK of the guards.

Have you ever heard of a prisoner walking in back of a guard without handcuffs or restraints?

Have you ever heard of a prisoner grabbing papers out of a guards hand without being sent for disciplinary action?

Well you have heard it now. It happened in Castro Castro with Joran van der Sloot and you just  saw it  here in these photographs.

JORAN IS PROTECTED NOW AND FOREVER AS LONG AS THE MONEY KEEPS ROLLING IN

Joran is no doubt getting a lot of perks  in jail . He has a lot of freedom and he has a lot of control over the guards as we just saw.

Seeing this  makes me even more confident about  my  theory that he is being protected by his Dutch  government who will most likely NEVER find him the Spanish to Dutch translator he needs for his trial to proceed. Even the Peruvians reported that they don’t have anyone who is an official translator from Spanish to Dutch.

They are keeping him safe in protective custody so that the can earn money doing interviews and write a book. They money he earns will go for a king like lifestyle at Castro Castro with guards and prisoners being on his hefty payroll.

PERUVIAN CULTURE OF MACHISMO CAN  ACCEPT WHAT JORAN DID  TO STEFANY AND NATALIE

While we are outraged by what Joran did to two innocent women, in his machismo prison environment in Peru they may not consider what he did to be  so bad. They may not look at what he did as such a big deal.

In fact, the Latin American Herald Tribune http://laht.com/article.asp?ArticleId=357102&CategoryId=14095 did an article on  machismo culture and violence  against women  and how Peruvian women  have to deal with a justice system that often justifies the behavior of the aggressor.

While it is sickening to our culture, the article states the following:

What happens in Peru is that violence is not considered a serious problem and that in certain cases it is justified,” the head of women’s affairs in the National Ombudsman’s Office, attorney Teresa Hernandez, said.

Society in general finds violence justified when the woman does not fulfill the role she “should” perform: not looking after her spouse enough, not asking permission to go out, or spending too much time outside the home, she said.

“When women behave that way, it is considered inappropriate and deserving of punishment – that’s why our hypothesis is that since those who enforce the law (police, prosecutors, judges) have that criterion, complaints are not processed with the priority or the urgency they require,” Hernandez told Efe.

The article goes on to say :

“Very few judges order effective measures of protection,” Sarmiento said, adding “there is widespread disregard for the national and international regulations that are essential for resolving these cases,” such as the 1994 Belem Inter-American Convention to prevent, punish and eradicate violence against women.

Both victims and aggressors tend to be in the 18-35 age group, and two-thirds of victims are romantically involved with their attackers, according to the Ministry of Women.

Thirty-eight percent of the killers say they acted out of jealousy. Some 34 percent of the victims were stabbed to death, 26 percent died of a beating and 15 percent were shot

When the aggressors are caught and tried in court, they usually ask for the benefit of a sincere confession or say that the homicide was the result of violent emotion, which reduces their sentence to less than 15 years behind bars, Sarmiento said.

“Finally, an atmosphere of impunity is created that makes the situation worse, because another aggressor will thing nothing will happen to him” if he commits the same crime, the attorney said. EFE

 JORAN’S BRIGHT FUTURE
So there you have it!  Joran will remain protected in Castro Castro forever or until they find a translator. Maybe his Spanish will be so fluent in a few years that he wont need a translator.
Maybe  when it comes time for him to go through the  trial in Spanish, he will have earned millions from his interviews, photos , a book and film deal that he will have have a lot of money to pay off guards, prisoners, and who knows- even judges . This is NOT the USA where this could never happen. This is Peru and we have already seen what happens. Re- read the article in the Latin American Herald Tribune above.

They fact that Stefany Flores was an alleged lesbian may be all the more reason she will could be vilified in a culture of machismo. If Joran  does go to trial and says that he killed Stefany because  he was emotionally outraged because  she lead him on sexually and toyed with him  when she had no intention of having sex with him because she was a lesbian, he may get some sympathy from the court as indicated in the above article.

JORAN COULD BE OUT OF PRISON IN LESS THAN 15 YEARS

As sickening as it is, Joran could be out of  Castro Castro Prison in less than 15 years  well before he is 34.  He may not  get extradited to the US by Peru to serve his crime for extorting Natalie Holloway’s family because  the good old  Netherlands will most likely step in  and save the day for Joran. They will prevent anything happening to their precious citizen just like  we saw in Aruba. .

That means he could have  the rest of his life to do interviews and make money and write more books. Who knows, by then  he could even get his own  reality show.

 BUT KARMIC JUSTICE MAY PREVAIL

Even if Joran manages to skirt the law, there is something called Karmic Justice. It may not be in the form of justice as we know it but it may be justice from a higher power.

Because of the unsanitary conditions and contagious diseases Joran may very well catch one of them. He may succumb to  tuberculosis, pneumonia, Hepatitis A B and C, HIV- AIDS, cholera, parasites, MSRA, or a host of other communicable diseases available to him in his environment.

I do hope that Joran gets his punishment one way or the other for ending the lives of two precious and beautiful women. I pray that he is never released so that he could torment and kill  yet another woman.

Joran Van De Sloot Body Language With Serene Smile Shows Peru Prison Life Is Not Bad As His Legal Process is Stalled Indefinitely Due To The “ No Translator Excuse”

Monday, August 30th, 2010

While there is an uproar in Peru about jailers photographing suspected killer Joran van der Sloot, where he is seen posing with two other men held in Castro Casto prison, held in connection with high-profile killings, the world got to see a long awaited glimpse of Joran’s life behind bars.

Based on Joran’s body language, things don’t seem too bad for 22 year old Joran.  Joran’s facial expression speaks volumes. His dimpled  and serene  smile shows that things aren’t that bad for him in Castro Castro prison. In fact he looks rather happy.

His head is even casually cocked to the side as he most likely wonders what new and exciting adventure and experience is coming up next.

He doesn’t look skinny or haggard at all, but rather well fed. You can see  the outline of his body shape through his white  soiled and dingy buttoned down shirt.

He’s even changed up his look with a little chin beard and moustache which makes him looks less boyish. The dyed red coloring of his hair has now grown out as well.

LIKE MINDED FRIENDS IN PRISON

He’s obviously found some like- minded new friends as he stands along side fellow inmates with whom he apparently has a lot in common-the killing of innocent women.

Hugo Trujillo Ospina, nicknamed “the Clown”  based on his dysmorphic appearance, and down turned eyes  is accused of being the hit man for hire in killing a wealthy Peruvian business woman Myryam Feffer, seen on the right. Ospina was allegedly hired by Feffer’s lesbian daughter who now  sits in a women’s prison in Peru along with her lover.

Castro Castro seems to have turned the Clown’s frown right side up. He is now beaming and smiling as she stands next to his tall prison mate and  card playing partner,   Joran.

In the photo we not only see hm with a heaarty snile, but he is  even happy enough to make  some gangconsisting of awkward  hand and finger gestures for the camera.

William Trickett Smith II, also in the photo is accused of killing his Peruvian wife by dismembering her and stuffing her body in a suitcase that fishermen later found offshore.

Trickett is to the far left of the group photo. He’s obviously made a friend in Castro Castro as well. It is clearly the blurred out fellow standing next to him  who has his fingers splayed out on William’s upper back near his neck area, indicting friendship. Perhpas it may even be a very close friendship.  Like Joran, William has also grown out the  hair on his head  and grown some sparse facial hair.

As far as the fellow in the blue tee shirt who is blurred out, I doubt that if he was a prisoner,  he was blurred out  to protect his privacy rights. He may very well be one of the officers who is up for disciplinary action. He certainly had his tee shirt up high around his neck towards his chin in the photo. Maybe that was his way of instinctively covering up as he may have known that posing with these criminals was not a smart  thing to do. But he did it anyway.

I should also add that when these photos were released the names  of those in the photos were mismatched to their actual picture . So it was a bit confusing to initially  determine who was who until the photos were studied in greater detail.

Since these men appear to have so much in common,  there may be a camaraderie and  lot  to discuss. The fact that William Trickett Smith II speaks English  may also add to Joran’s comfort level.

After this embarassing fiasco, Peruvian authorities now reported that Joran is the only one in the protective custody wing, There is little doubt that he is as isolated as we once thought he would be. Perhaps he has been able to use his gambling money  or some of his savings to buy protection from the guards, visits from non threatening inmates, and even better quality food from the outside .

JORAN MAY BE RELAXED BECAUSE HIS LEGAL PROCESS IS ON HOLD INDEFINITELY

IF  NOT PERMANENTLY

Joran’s body language n the photo also shows that he seems to be relaxed as though he doesn’t have a care in the world.

It is understandable as to why he may be feeling that way.  Apparently there us a new snafu and the legal process against him, It has ground to a halt  because no official interpreter can be found. The Peruvian television  station showed a letter from the Peruvian association of translators and interpreters which said it has no one who can translate from Spanish into Dutch.

The Dutch embassy has also produced a letter  in which it says it has no official interpreter available. Even though  the  Dutch Embassy says it provides a list of lawyers and interpreters to a national abroad facing criminal charges, it  does not provide the interpreters themselves.

So Joran will not be tried and sentenced until an interpreter will be found which may be- NEVER !!!!!. This way Joran will be locked up but he will be safe as he remains in protective custody indefinitely or perhaps until his life ends.

I don’t see what they don’t get a translator  who can translate Spanish to English and then get someone who can translate English to Dutch.  But perhaps it is a ploy by the Dutch Embassy to further protect Joran,  just like they clearly did when he was in Aruba.

To me this screams of manipulation. Joran was obviously well versed enough in English to communicate with Natalie Holloway. He is fluent enough in English to do articulate  interviews with Greta van Sustern .

He was well versed enough  in Spanish to communicate with Stefany Flores. And well he was versed enough to get two taxi drivers to help him escape.

It seems that he may very well  be protected by the Dutch Embassy. They know  for certain that if their citizen goes to trial in Peru, he will most likely be sent to a worse prison and into the general population where he will be raped and  murdered  within a matter of  minutes.

So the best they can do for Joran and for the memory of his well connected father, Paulus Van der Sloot  is to keep him in a situation where he will  remain  in a “less worse “  prison and be safe from harm by remaining in  protective custody forever.

KARMIC JUSTICE FOR JORAN

But no matter how hard Joran, his attorney, or the Dutch Embassy manipulates the situation, Joran may very well  succumb to his destined Karma. Maybe  he won’t receive justice as we know it, but he will receive Karmic justice.

Perhaps he won’t be killed by a fellow prisoner, but he may very well be killed by disease due to the unhealthy living conditions, poor sanitation, lack of nutrition, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. www.drlillianglass.com
